Services

The Medical Library at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH) provides a high quality library and information service to Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) staff to support the CAHS mission, values and goals.

We support informed decision making and evidence-based practice through the provision of information in a variety of formats. Our services include literature searches, document delivery and interlibrary loans, current awareness alerting, training and support.

Borrowing

CAHS staff and the following associated groups are eligible to borrow from the Medical Library:
  • All members of the PMH Clinical Staff Association
  • Medical students (5th and 6th year who are attached to PMH)
  • Paediatric nursing students enrolled at PMH
  • Doctors undertaking the Diploma of Child Health at PMH
  • Other students based at PMH full time for a minimum of 4 weeks
  • WA Health staff working at a hospital other than PMH may register with the library as a WA Health Borrower

Non-staff members are welcome to visit the library and use our collection on site. Restrictions and fees apply to the use of online resources, printing and photocopying. Please see the library staff at the information desk when you arrive.

Current Awareness Alerts

If you would like to receive the latest tables of contents for your favourite journals, sign up for eTOCs. We will email you tables of contents as new issues are published. To register for this service, the library or go to Forms and complete the eTOCS form.

If you would like to receive updates on articles published in your area(s) of interest, the library can set up search profiles on specific topics. To register for this service, contact the library by phone or email.

Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loans

CAHS staff can request books or articles not held by the PMH Medical Library through our document delivery and interlibrary loan service. To use this service, staff must first register with the Medical Library. Go to Formsto print and complete the library registration form.

We are here to provide assistance and training in the use of all of our resources. Please visit the library or contact us by email or phone for more information.

Literature Searches

CAHS staff can request literature searches. Go to Forms to request a literature search.

Child Health Library

The Child Health Library at PMH provides information on child health to consumers, their families and carers, health professionals and the general public of Western Australia. We provide consumer health information in a variety of formats and languages where available. We provide access to online consumer health information and professional support and guidance in searching for information.
